We have full Practice Accreditation status from the Royal College of General Practitioners and are a training practice for GP Registrars. We also train FY2 doctors and medical students.
GP Registrars are fully qualified doctors with at least 3 years hospital training who are learning to become GPs. They complete an intensive 3 year specialist GP Training Programme during which they are attached to the practice for a total of 18 months.
The GP partners have a responsibility to supervise and support the doctors working with them to gain experience in General Practice.
As part of their training they are expected to video a number of consultations, but only with the written consent of patients. We are grateful to those patients who permit this.
The recorded consultations are:
- used for analysis and assessment alongside their Trainer
- in order to improve and develop GP consultation skills
- reviewed in confidence between Trainee and Trainer for the purposes of training
- stored safely or encrypted when awaiting review
- erased once viewed
This is only for use within the practice. If, however, you do not feel comfortable participating in this videotaping, please feel free to decline.
We may also ask our patients for feedback (Questionnaire) on the Trainees at specified times in their training.
Many thanks for your cooperation in this. Together we aim to ensure excellent GPs for the future.
