The practice will be closed on the afternoon of Tuesday 30th November 2021 for essential training.  Should you have a medical emergency that cannot wait until the practice reopens the following day please contact the Ayrshire Urgent Care Service on 01563 826930.

Your call will be assessed by The Primary and Urgent Care Team, and a GP where appropriate, between the hours of 12.30pm and 5.30pm.  If the GP feels during the telephone assessment that you require to be seen face to face between these hours you will be seen at the practice or offered an appointment after 6pm at your local Ayrshire Urgent Care centre.

Please note the above telephone number is only active on GP Practice training days and will not be able to be used after this date.

In order to keep up with current demand for prescriptions and to reduce footfall to the building, we are temporarily increasing the amount of time the prescription ordering phone line is open.  The prescription line will be open from 9.30am to 11.30am until future notice.


For general information about the coronavirus vaccine and its delivery phone 0800 030 8013 (available 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week).  Please note it is not possible to book or change appointments via the helpline.


In keeping with Scottish Government guidelines, all patients are still required to wear a face covering when entering the hospital and during your visit at the surgery.  We do have a limited supply of face masks and one can be provided should it be needed but we would kindly ask everyone to use their own where possible.


Please note that all requests for GP appointments are still being triaged by telephone.

If you have any symptoms of fever, new continuous cough, change in taste or smell or have been in contact with someone with coronavirus please do not come into the practice. For advice on symptoms please telephone the practice or 111.  Please note that 111 are currently experiencing high call volumes.  


Community pharmacies are continuing to experience a very high demand for their services.  Please leave 72 hours before collecting your prescription.  Please check opening times before visiting the pharmacy.

Childhood Immunisation Clinic is run every Wednesday morning.

Foreign Travel Immunisation can be arranged as required. 

Child Health Surveillance

New babies will be invited to attend for a Child Health Surveillance when they reach 6 weeks

Ante-Natal Care

Wednesday 13:00 to 14:30; run by midwife Geraldine Rae.

Diabetic Clinic

Dr Ledger offers diabetic appointments and is also involved in the running of the Girvan Community Hospital Diabetic Clinic, co-ordinated by an NHS Administrator. Nurse Anne Nelson also offers diabetic appointments. Dietetic and podiatry services can be arranged from these clinics.

Asthma Clinic

Appointments are available at any time during the week. Run by Nurse Mhairi Andrew

Blood Clinic

Monday to Friday 09:00 – 10:00; Run by the Practice Nurses.

Minor Surgery

Minor Surgery procedures for joint injections, excisions or other similar problems.  Please make an appointment to discuss this with a GP who will then arrange a Minor Surgery appointment if appropriate.

Liquid Nitrogen clinic is available on a Thursday and Friday morning from 08:30.  Please note that this is a 5 minute appointment for Liquid Nitrogen only.   If you wish to discuss any other matter with a GP, please arrange a routine appointment.

Chronic Disease Management

The following conditions are monitored by the Practice Nurses in collaboration with the doctors:

Asthma, Atrial Fibrillation, Cancer, Chronic Kidney Disease, COPD, Chronic Heart Disease, Dementia, Depression, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Heart Failure, Hypertension, Hypothyroidism, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, Obesity, Palliative Care, Smoking, Stroke and TIA.

Well Woman and Family Planning 

The Practice nurses carry out cervical smears and give breast awareness and menopause advice. Appointments are available Mon-Fri. Women are invited to attend every 3 years.

Family planning advice is offered by our GPs, and Nurse Anne Nelson. 

Contraceptive Services

The Practice is now offering Long Acting Reversible Contraception (Mirena Coil, Copper 
Coil and Contraceptive Implants). Please speak to a GP, Nurse or your Health Visitor or 
alternatively you can contact Reception for more information.

Well Man Appointments

Men are advised to make an appointment at least every 3 years.

Smoking Cessation

Our Health Visitor and our Practice Nurses offer advice and support for those who wish help in stopping smoking.
